witchhunter.net -> reports -> the end of the doc thompson
This game is a continuation of "Doc Thompson and the Lost Temple" and "An Airfield near Mandalay ". Fleeing with the German Zeppelin from Burma Doc Thompson and his loyal assistant Maria touched down in Berlin to find out about the furor going on around the treasure and where it's all going. They hired some mercenaries and rented an empty warehouse and the Doc (he suspects that a supernatural creature hidden inside the cascet) is going to open the cascet...

Somewhere in the border regions of Berlin. The night is going up. The wind suddenly changes and the premonition of disaster hangs over the desolated city area. The story takes its course...

Maria feels shivery and shaky.
- Doc, we don't need to open it, let us get away from here as soon as we can. I fear the worst, the evil Fu Man Chu will capture us sooner or later for sure, let us give back to him the cascet, we'll get back to Arkham and will resume the research work and make our best effort to find other proofs of the existence of Old Ones.
Doc Thompson is upset.
- To hell with the researche! After all the years, after all the efforts, I'm so close to the truth, that's our chance to show the world, something is out there, something lurks behind the peaceful facade of our civilization, something DANGEROUS!!!

In the meantime Fu Man Chu and a couple of his dogsbodies are sneaking up to the warehouse. They are like shadows, silent and noiseless. Fu Man Chu is calm and collected, he knows the Doc is going to open the cascet and he also knows that Doc isn't up to the this risky task. This fool of a doctor...

Major Matt O'Hara, an old soldier and veteran of the Great War also has a feeling that something will happen. Something bad. Last time he had this feeling was some years ago, he was off to war and his unit was surrounded by Germans, when he thought that this would be his end but he survived. Now he is in Germany again and there isn't even war but...O'Hara sighs: "I'm just too old for this shit!"

A poster on the wall attracts the Doc's attention. He mutters: "That's wordplay, 'bad blood', it's symbolic in a way". He shakes his head and goes into the warehouse. The words "you must keep up treatments" set him thinking...

Barry and Larry are brothers. Barry and Larry love big guns. Barry had a date today with a beautiful German girl. As he and his uniformed little brother patrol up and down the area, he thinks about the last hours before the job. He didn't understand any bloody word she said but her lips and hands were speaking his language. Barry can't wait to get through with the job and go back to Hilde...Larry is just excited and a bit nervous, it's his first job.

Suddenly Hak Man-Tsu hears a noise! He leaps into the darkness and comes up a second later, a frightened girl in tow. Fu Man Chu is speechless: "How does the guy manage this? No matter where we are, this stud will always find a girl ..." Hak Man-Tsu talks to the girl: "Girl, you, don't afraid, you full safe" Then he adds with a twinkle in his eye: "You sure want my...sword see, you do?". She whispers: "Yes, of course and I'm sure your...sword is very long isn't it?" But a short look of Fu Man Chu is enough and the Beauty and the Beast are quiet.

- Barry! Did you hear that noise?
Larry is startled by a vague movement and a faint noise.
- C'mon, Larry, don't be a fool, nobody is there, i think that's a cat
- But Barry, i'm sure...
- Shut up! I said, there is nothing! That means that nothing is there. Understand?
- Yes..

Back to Doc and Maria...
When the Doc opened the treasure, he found an old parchment. He reads:
- Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl....An invocation! The secret ritual! Maria, dear, we've really got it and now I'll invoke the demon. But we'll need a sacrifice, blood of a human being. Maria, get out and look for someone who could be beneficial to our purpose. No matter who but hurry up!!
- For heaven's sake, Doc!
- Bloody hell, just do it, or YOUR blood will flow! Now!

Outside Barry has to admit that his brother was right, they were not alone out here. A bulky figure of a Chinese with a naked torso followed by a nice looking girl steppes out of darkness into the lamplight.
- It's Hak Man-Tsu! Fire away, Larry!
And the bullets fly...
And the stillness of the night is broken...

Tong and Wang are just small-time crooks, they don't have no idea what the strange Mr.Fu Man Chu wants here. Doesn't matter, says Wang, we do the job, we'll get the money and we'll push off. And now let us ransack this shed!

The brothers shoot and shoot, shoot and shoot but the bullets don't want to hit.
- I don't believe it!! - Barry yells
Larry reloads and shoots again. Missed...

At the same time Maria and the two rogues suddenly appear! One moment the party is quiet, all friends and foes are staring at each other. An instant later the bullets were flying again...

Hak-Man Tzu swings his sword and attacks Maria. The rogues shoot Barry down and Larry runs away. The balance of power moves to the bad guys.

Maria's desperate attempt to fight down Hak Man Tzu fails. With her last ounce of strength she tries to hit him but she doesn't manage to.

In the next second the sword of Hak Man Tzu runs through the body of Maria and she falls. The sneer of the Chinese is the last that she notices.

On the other side of the building just at the same moment the Major O'Hara takes his last breath. His final thoughts: "I was killed by chineses in Berlin. This world is crazy. I'm too old for thi..."

His partner Lucky Dingens thinks carefully about the things while he fights and finally decides to flee. Later we will find out he will be the only survivor. What a clever decision!

The Doc, too tired to wait, cuts up his hand and his blood drips into the casket. A cloud rises and a repulsive thing appears. It's something that couldn't be described, a thing without name and form. The doc retreats from it but the endless long tentacle of the creature reaches out for him and wraps around his neck. "What have I done!!!" Doc thinks and loses consciousness.

Some moments later the Doc is dead. A sad victim of his own thirst for the forbidden mysteries. Now just a motionless body. What a waste!

Later that night Fu Man Chu stands by the thing and looks at it. Strange, but the creature doesn't try to attack him. Fu Man Chu grins: "I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship........."
